Why: To retreat, withdraw from the daily grind, to deliberately make time and space for relaxation and nourishment.

What you will get:  This Daylong Yoga & Meditation Retreat was created from a calling for something more in Billings, and what a great time for it!  DanWalt Gardens is in bloom!  A beautiful getaway inside Billings’ city limits DanWalt Gardens holds a variety of trees, plants, flowers, and the subtle trickle of fountain waters and a koi pond that unite, creating a tranquil environment for you and your intention to retreat, rest and rejuvenate.

Your investment includes a gently led, but invigorating morning class with aromatherapy to support the airways and clear the sinuses for basic breathing exercises.  Lunch will be provided by DanWalt Gardens with your choice of chicken breast on a bed of fresh vegetables or a vegetarian version (without chicken). *When you call to register, please let Clint know if you would like chicken or not. After lunch, there will be a garden tour with the owners and time for a little digestion before an afternoon of restful yoga, outdoor meditation, a creative exercise for deeper contemplation and an elongated savasana to end.

Tentative Schedule:

9:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.  Introduction

9:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  Movement and gentle yoga poses to warm up and open the lungs and diaphragm, plus aromatherapy (if you choose) to support clearing the airways for improved breathing during breathing exercises.

10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Basic breathing exercises plus beginning meditation

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Movement and yoga postures to increase energy and gently challenge stamina through the union of movement and breath.

12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.  Lunch

12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Garden Tour!

1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Outdoor meditation

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Restorative yoga

3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Creative exercise (writing or drawing)

3:30 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.  Restorative savasana with aromatherapy

3:50 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Silent meditation

Why all day long?

A retreat is a period of group withdrawal for intentional study, prayer, or meditation.  When we take the time to retreat, we allow ourselves a longer period of time to unravel, unhinge, undo all the pent up stress and difficulty of our jobs, care taking, and hard work eventually wearing on us and creating difficult moods or habits and patterns that may not be best suited for us.

Yoga is defined as a union between our body, mind, and soul but it can also be understood as a form of Self study.  When we realize we have become bogged down by the stresses of our environment we see there have been missed opportunities for connection, joy, play, or even sadness that might be lingering from long ago.  Yoga practices can help unify these three “parts” in order to gain more clarity and insight as to how we can live life more fully.

This daylong yoga and meditation retreat is a way for you to spend time unwinding, resting, and releasing with the intention to discover more of who you are and to gracefully nourish your body, mind, and soul with enough time and space to truly find a sense of peace.  When we find this sense of peace, we can feel more confident as we enter back into our lives and approach them with openness and the ability to connect with ourselves and others in a more peaceful way.
