Summer Pesto

Summer brings fresh herbs to our table and homemade pesto is something we make throughout the season.  Here is a pesto recipe using Doterra Essential Oils:

3 cups basil leaves, loosely packed

3 small or 2 large garlic cloves

1/3 cup pine nuts

2/3 – 3/4 cup olive oil

1 toothpick dip black pepper essential oil

1 toothpick dip basil essential oil (optional)

1 toothpick dip lemon essential oil

1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional)

sea salt to taste

 

Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor.  When using a blender, start with blending half of the ingredients then add the rest until desired consistency is reached.  If using a food processor, add all the ingredients and process until desired consistency is reached.  Add olive oil if consistency is too dry.
