To align or not to align, and what does it mean anyway?
Iyengar Yoga is a style of hatha yoga where alignment is often an intense focus. Each detailed instruction can help connect one’s mind to their body and through this ongoing process offers a beginning practice of mindfulness. Suggestions in alignment depend on the nature of the pose, however simply put the purpose of practicing in this way is in part to enable a mind-body connection.
Alignment from a yoga therapy standpoint comes in all forms. Breathing practices and meditation techniques also provide a sense of ease and stability for the practitioner.
